Lanzarote produced up to 10,000 tons of salt. Now only 2,000 tons.<\/p><p><strong>The Lle\u00f3 family ran the salt business from its beginnings till the end of the 19<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century.<\/strong><\/p><p>There were around<strong>\u00a020 saltflats<\/strong>\u00a0running simultaneously on Lanzarote only a hundred years ago. In the Canaries there are only 4 left, one of them in Lanzarote.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-76d7bb9 e-ecs-flex e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"76d7bb9\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;ecs_container_type&quot;:&quot;flex&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b2d27bf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b2d27bf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The men worked on the fishing boats, the women were in charge of working in the saltflats. Depending on the times, there were anywhere from 250 to 400 people working at the Janubio Salt Mines, now there are only 9.<\/p><p>The\u00a0<strong>salt harvesting<\/strong>\u00a0is still done traditionally by hand, between May and October. The fleur de sel (hand-harvested sea salt) is collected at dawn, very delicately, with a net.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9fde9f8 e-ecs-flex e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"9fde9f8\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" study by Laboratorios TresA, the salt from Janubio \u00a8does not contain any microplastics from the families analyzed (polypropylene, high-density polyethylene, low-density polyethylene, PET, nylon).\u00a8<\/p><p><a important environmental and scientific interest due to the species that it harbors and the migratory birds that seek refuge there.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
