Volcanoes, the green lagoon and the Janubio saltflats

During our visit to Timanfaya National Park, you’ll receive detailed information on volcanology, view the most impressive volcanic landscape on the island, witness geothermal experiments and take a bus ride along the route of the volcanoes.

A stop at the camel rides/rest area (rides are possible). A visit to the fishing village of el Golfo with its black sand beach and famous green lagoon. A visit to the Janubio salt mines with a little sampling.

The volcanic eruptions in the 18^th century transformed the geography of the island and the lives of its people forever.

At Timanfaya National Park almost all of the volcanic cones found there were formed during the eruption process and it got its name from one of the villages that disappeared.

We will be joining you on this 90 minute tour in order to answer all your questions, help you understand the landscape and let you feel like an expert volcanologist (a 45 minute coach ride along the route of the volcanoes, the only way to cover this landscape due to environmental impact issues and extremely fragile ecosystems and the remaining 45 minutes to observe geothermal experiments and feel the unbelievable energy of the place).

In the south-west of the island the lava ran into the ocean at el Golfo which we will visit and take our time so you can walk on a black sand beach, behold the spectacular surf and be blown away by a huge hydromagmatic volcano which harbors a strange green lagoon… and since we wouldn’t want you to finish one of our tours without trying some local product, we will tell you about salt production on Lanzarote, which hasn’t always made a living off tourism…
